CUBIT360 FAQ
The Cubit360 has a Quick Start Guide included in the box, and comprehensive Operating Manual available through the software. Here are some key questions and answers on the Cubit360 system.
What computer do I need to run the Cubit360?
|
The Cubit360 requires a desktop Windows PC or equivalent specification laptop. Macs are not supported (Windows via Bootcamp is not recommended due to graphics incompatibility). Minimum specifications: An internet connection is required for installation and updates. Administrator privileges are required. |
How do I install the Cubit360 software?
1. Place the Cubit360 on a stable, dry, clean surface — allow at least 20×20 cm working space. For the latest software: https://cubitupdates.mimetrik.tech/Downloads/ |
What do the LED indicator lights mean?
| Slow pulsing white — Plugged in but software not launched Spinning white — Initialising software and hardware Solid green — Ready and waiting (or scanning) Pulsing green — Relocation (tracking lost, trying to recover) Slow pulsing green — Scanning paused (idle 30+ seconds) Spinning green — Post-processing Solid orange — Hardware error If you see a solid orange light, stop using the device and contact support@mimetrik.tech immediately. |
What can the Cubit360 scan?
| Designed to scan: • Dental impressions • Dental models (stone and printed) • Dental prostheses including dentures • Bite registrations NOT intended for: • Direct patient scanning or intraoral use • Scanning teeth in situ • Diagnosis or treatment planning • Scanning people or animals For use by trained dental professionals in practice or laboratory environments only. |
How do I get the best scan results?
| • Distance: Hold the object approximately 5 cm in front of the cameras. • Colour guide: Green = ideal position | Red = too close | Blue = too far away. • Coverage: Ensure all areas of clinical interest are green (not red) before processing. • Lighting: Use diffused ambient light (standard ceiling lights ideal). Avoid direct sunlight or bright lamps shining onto the scanner or object. • Surface: Work on a stable, clean, dry, level surface. • Scan powder: If struggling to scan an object, try applying scan powder and retaking. Click ‘Retake Scan’ if you are unhappy with the result before proceeding. |
How do I scan a bite registration?
| For models: Scan the models held in occlusion in one continuous scan. Capturing the entire arch produces better articulation than a smaller segment. For impressions (Clinical Workflow): • Take two buccal bite registration records spanning molar to canine, with sufficient thickness to remain rigid. • Scan the dental side of the first bite registration, then click ‘+’ to add the second. Order does not matter. • Click ‘Confirm Scan’ when done. For dentures: Use the provided wax rims. If no bite registration has been provided, stabilise the denture bite with wax prior to scanning, then proceed as for model bite scanning. |
What file formats does the Cubit360 export?
| PLY — retains colour information from the scan. STL — geometry only, no colour information. You can select the level of detail (quality) before saving. By default, the Case ID is used as the folder name, which can be changed at save time. After saving, a confirmation screen appears. You can then open the scan folder, start a new scan, or return to the home screen. |
How do I update the Cubit360 software?
| 1. From the Home Screen click Settings (top right). 2. Select Maintenance from the settings menu. 3. Click ‘Launch Update Tool’ to check for and install the latest software. A notification also appears on the Home Screen when an update is available. Ensure the PC is connected to the internet before updating. IMPORTANT: Do not disconnect the device during a software update. Direct download: cubitupdates.mimetrik.tech/Downloads/ |
How do I clean and maintain the Cubit360?
| Housing: • Use a soft, lint-free, dry microfibre cloth to gently wipe all exposed surfaces. • For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water or mild non-abrasive detergent. Do not oversaturate. • NEVER spray cleaning solutions directly onto the scanner — always apply to the cloth first. Lenses (optical surfaces): • The lenses are inside the device and do not normally require cleaning. • If needed: first try a photographic air blower to remove dust. • If further cleaning is required, use fresh lint-free optical wipes with very light up-and-down passes only. Do not use circular motions. Do not apply pressure. Avoid applying scan powder near the device. Clean working surfaces regularly. |
Does the Cubit360 need calibrating?
| The Cubit360 is calibrated at the factory before shipping and will also periodically auto-calibrate during normal use. No manual calibration is required in day-to-day use. Note: Continuous or repeated transportation of the device may cause calibration drift. If you believe recalibration is required, do not attempt this yourself — contact Mimetrik at support@mimetrik.tech. |
Can I use the Cubit360 with a Mac or laptop?
• Mac computers are not supported. Windows via Bootcamp is specifically not recommended — lack of graphics card compatibility severely impacts performance. • Virtualisation environments are not supported. • For laptop use contact support@mimetrik.tech The device is designed for use in a fixed, dedicated desktop area and is not intended to be portable. |
What should I do if scan tracking is lost mid-scan?
| If tracking is lost, the LED changes to pulsing green (Relocation mode) — the software is attempting to re-acquire the scan. To recover: • Slowly move the object back into the scanning area at approximately 5 cm from the cameras. • Keep the object in the green zone. • If paused for 30+ seconds, the LED shows slow pulsing green. If unable to recover, click ‘Retake Scan’ to start again. If the problem persists, try applying scan powder and retaking the scan. |
What are the environmental requirements for the Cubit360?
| Operating environment: • Indoor use only • Temperature: 18–27°C • Humidity: 30–75% (non-condensing) • Altitude: up to 2,000 m • Working area must be stable, clean and dry • Avoid extremely bright light during use Storage and transport: • Temperature: 0–40°C • Humidity: 20–80% (non-condensing) • Exercise caution when moving — repeated transportation can cause calibration drift |
